British prog rock
Cyan
CYAN was officially formed by Rob Reed in the early 1990s, before his involvement with Magenta. Reed released three albums with CYAN before the project was more or less put on hold. A few years ago, however, he decided to breathe new life into the band.
For the revived CYAN, Reed surrounded himself with an outstanding group of musicians, including guitarist Luke Machin (The Tangent, Karnataka) and Dan Nelson (Magenta). What truly sets CYAN apart from Reed’s other projects, however, is the addition of Peter Jones (Camel, Tiger Moth Tales) on lead vocals.
In 2021, the band released For King and Country, followed more recently by the excellent album Pictures from the Other Side. CYAN’s music is quintessentially British neo-progressive rock, combining strong melodies, atmospheric keyboards and impressive musicianship with echoes of classic Genesis.
Last year, CYAN proved just how powerful they are on stage, delivering one of the highlights of the Night of the Prog Festival in Germany.
