The Tangent

The Tangent are a Progressive Rock Band from England who have been around for almost quarter of a century.
The band specialises in Epic Format songs with a huge variety of inspirations from areas both inside and outside the Prog field... Metal, Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Classical, Dance, Disco, Funk all have their part to play in the music and the result is surprisingly unique yet totally in line with the Progressive Genre. Their lyrics are highly involved and often refer to events in the real world - "No Orcs and Hobbits in The Tangent" has been a rule since the beginning. The group insist on staying here in the 2020s - and believe that Progressive Music belongs here, now as much as it did in its 1970s heyday.
Formed in 2022 by Andy Tillison, Roine Stolt and Jonas Reingold the group has seen many lineup changes, and has featured musicians like Gavin Harrison, Jakko M Jakszyk, David Jackson (Van Der Graaf Generator) and David Longdon (Big Big Train) among their contributors. Since 2015 though the lineup has remained basically stable featuring Andy Tillison (Keyboards/Vocals) Luke Machin (Guitars), Steve Roberts (Drums) and recently have brought IQ/Jadis/Arena bass player John Jowitt on board as founder member Jonas Reingold leaves the band to concentrate on other projects. Theo Travis (Sax Flute) has been with the band on record since 2004. His work with Soft Machine means the Tangent sometimes has tp play without him. Rob Groucutt will be with the band as a second keyboards player allowing the 2 players to play Theo's parts between them.
